Bonnie Pomfret has taught voice since 1974 as a private instructor, and since 1980 at various colleges including Emory University, Illinois State University, Indiana University, Salve Regina University, Shorter College, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Bonnie's
voice technique is anatomically based and
rooted in the McClosky method.
Because of Bonnie’s McClosky training and affiliation
with the McClosky Institute of Voice, her teaching has
crossed traditional boundaries into vocal rehabilitation
and clinical work at Peoria ENT Group and Emory Voice
Center. She has also designed the McClosky Institute’s certification
curriculum to train others to do this
work.
Bonnie believes that good voice production is independent
of style and usage: the same principles apply to speech and
singing, whether in the classical or popular idiom. Bonnie
believes also that “vocal image” can be as
important in non-singing professions as in singing or
acting, and that it is virtually ignored. She offers
workshops that help to train
individuals' voices to perform well in all capacities
relating to speech.
As a teacher, Bonnie shows students how to find their most
natural and efficient voice, and how to solve challenges
and problems that they may encounter in their performance
and vocal activities. She offers lessons in her private studio
as well as
webcam consultations. Bonnie offers additional expertise
and services in vocal health training, and possesses a CMVT
Designation.
